Top Cell Phone Companies That Offers Best Plans

It can be difficult and confusing to choose the right cell phone carrier for you in 2021, with so many options. Although it can be tempting to choose the cheapest provider, this could lead you to have unreliable, slow, or even non-existent service.

With the introduction of new plan options to attract new customers, carriers have made it harder for customers to choose. Explore the pros and cons of each top-rated cell phone carrier in 2021 to make it easier to choose a carrier.

A Solid Verizon’s Network: Xfinity Mobile

xfinity mobile logo

Republic Wireless is one of the top cell phone companies in the market. Xfinity is a way to save money on your monthly phone bill if you have Comcast internet service. Comcast’s backed phone carrier offers nationwide coverage by using a combination of Verizon’s cellular towers with Xfinity hotspots.

The $45 unlimited plan is Xfinity’s best option for individuals. It’s cheaper than paying for unlimited coverage from the major carriers and it includes access to Verizon 5G network if your phone is 5G-capable. This means that you can get 5G at a fraction of the price of a Verizon unlimited data plan.

Xfinity Mobile offers discounts on additional lines. This eliminates one of the major cons to this top phone carrier option. A single line of unlimited data costs $45 per month. However, a second line brings the cost per line down to $40. A family of four will pay $120 per month or $30 per line.

Xfinity has a wide selection of phones, including the most recent iPhones and Android flagships like the Galaxy S21 and iPhone 12. Xfinity now supports more than just the iPhone. You can also bring your current Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel device to Xfinity.

Best Unlimited Plan: Visible

visible logo

The second Best cell phone company on our list comes from Visible. Visible offers one service plan, so there is no variety. It’s an excellent option, as you get unlimited data at $40 per month on Verizon’s LTE network. This network was the best in our testing.

Visible had a cap on data speeds at the time that it launched, but this restriction has been lifted. This means that you can still enjoy Verizon’s full network power, with speeds slowing if the network becomes too busy. This is the standard operating procedure for networks such as Visible that use other carriers’ towers to provide coverage. Visible now offers 5G service through Verizon’s coverage. Visible users can access 5G free of charge using the iPhone 12, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 5G.

Visible offers the most affordable cell phone plan options, and families will love the generous discounts that you get as you add lines. Visible offers unlimited data for $35 per line, and a family of four only pays $100 each month. That’s a savings of $25 per line. Visible Party Plan doesn’t just cover people who live at the same address. It can also be used to cover roommates, distant relatives, and friends. Referring customers can help you save $5 per month.

Visible started as an iPhone-only carrier. However, it added Android phones to its portfolio, including flagships such as the Galaxy S21 or Pixel 5, and budget options like the Pixel 4a. After you have paid 50% off your phone, you can switch to an early upgrade program that allows you to get a new device. Visible also allows you to bring your own device.

Best Network and Coverage: Verizon Wireless

verizon logo

Verizon Wireless is our top cell phone provider in 2021 and has been in our top three lists for the last three years. Why? Although it is the largest, it has superior ratings for reliability, speed, and network coverage. Verizon offers solid coverage across the country, with few areas in the west or mid-west. It also has a large 5G network. This makes it a great choice for anyone who needs consistent data service and strong signal. Although it rates lower in customer service than other providers, Verizon has a wider customer base, so you can expect some variation in opinions and satisfaction ratings.

Verizon isn’t cheap. In fact, it offers some of the most expensive plans available on the market. However, they offer decent value if you are willing to invest in your phone. Prices start at $30 for multiple lines and can go up to $90 per month. Although you get what you pay for, not everyone can afford such costly cell phone plans every month.

You can pay $30 per month to get 500MB of data for as low as $30. You can add international calling for $5 per month and get unlimited calls to Mexico or Canada. Calls to 185 countries around the world are $10 each.

You can offset your internet provider’s costs by purchasing a Verizon unlimited 5G plan and using it for all your home broadband needs. This is a great way to save money and get amazing cell service if you are more frequently out than inside your home.

Best for Heavy Data Users: T-Mobile

t-mobile logo

T-Mobile is a great choice if you are looking for a carrier that offers unlimited plans at a competitive price and extra perks that you can use often. T-Mobile Tuesdays offer weekly discounts and promotions, free Netflix and in-flight Wi-Fi, as well as free international texting, data, and free Netflix. J.D. has awarded the carrier a J.D. The carrier has won a J.D. Power award for customer service and has made substantial progress in rolling out 5G coverage throughout the country.

T-Mobile offers basic unlimited plans as well as those with more perks and pricing that include taxes and fees. A basic unlimited plan that includes texting, calls, and 4G LTE data costs $60 per month. All-inclusive plans include 4G mobile data for $70 to $85. A family of four can pay $30 per line plus taxes and fees to get the basic unlimited plan. Prices rise to $35 for all-inclusive plans that include Netflix and 4G mobile data at $43, or $35 for $35.

T-Mobile is a great deal when you consider the prices and perks it offers, but its coverage is less than that of its competitors. Check the coverage map as some areas, such as rural areas or streets in larger cities, may be missing. It is important to know that 5G coverage may not be available in all areas. You will need a compatible phone in order to access these speeds.

Best for Families: AT&T

at&t logo

AT&T is the second-largest carrier in the United States. They provide service to 138 million subscribers. This number is just below Verizon’s. AT&T continued to promote their partnership with other AT&T-owned properties such as HBO, after a failed attempt in 2011 to purchase T-Mobile. AT&T, like Verizon, is a solid company that offers solid service. Thanks to their older 3G GSM network almost all mobile devices can be brought to the network to gain service. Although its prices have dropped over the years, AT&T is still quite expensive to purchase.

AT&T offers three options, similar to T-Mobile’s. This is the most basic unlimited plan that AT&T offers, but it comes with many limitations and drawbacks. AT&T’s Unlimited Starter Plan includes unlimited 4G LTE data at a throttled rate of one month, standard definition video streaming at 48p, roaming within Canada and Mexico, as well as international text. This plan doesn’t include mobile hotspots which is a disadvantage for us.

You’ll need to switch to one of AT&T’s other plans, Unlimited Extra or Unlimited Elite. Both plans cost $75 and $85 each month and will work depending on what hotspot requirements you have. Unlimited Extra offers 50GB of high-speed data and 15GB of fast hotspot data. This should provide enough data to keep most users covered for the entire month. Unlimited Elite is available if you need more data for your hotspot. Although it is expensive, you get a 30GB hotspot before you lose data. If you have a lot to do, this might be a cost you will have to pay.

Overall, AT&T’s data plans don’t cost much more than T-Mobile’s, but it is disappointing that their entry-level unlimited plan does not include a hotspot. You get much more hotspot data for $5 less per month than T-Mobile. AT&T has better network quality than T-Mobile, making it an attractive option for rural customers.

  • Perks: Unlimited talk, text, and data in Mexico and Canada, Unlimited texting from the U.S. to 120+ countries, HBO Max included, and Mobile hotspot access

Best for Travelers: Google Fi

google fi logo

The Google Fi wireless service is no longer limited to Google’s phones. It supports almost any type of phone (including iPhones). It’s the best choice if you own a Google Pixel phone or a compatible third-party smartphone like the new Samsung Galaxy flagships, Moto G Power, and Moto G Stylus. These phones can seamlessly switch between US Cellular, Sprint, and T-Mobile carriers to ensure you have the best possible connection. If you bring your device to Google Fi, this is not possible. This phone carrier is worth looking into when Google launches the Pixel 5a/ Pixel 6 later in the year.

Google Fi’s pricing can be quite attractive if you don’t use much data. Google charges $20 for unlimited text and voice, and $10 per gigabyte for data. Google adjusts the price to reflect how much data you use. If you use 2.5GB of data, for example, you will pay $25, instead of Google rounding up $30. Although unlimited data can be purchased if you wish, Google’s pricing is comparable to what T-Mobile charges for its best-unlimited plan at $70 per month. Google Fi offers a $60 unlimited data plan. However, it does not allow you to access your data abroad, which is a key feature of Google Fi.

This feature allows you to access your data and texts while you are abroad in more than 200 countries. You can also access data at reasonable speeds abroad. It is available in Google Fi’s $70 unlimited and by-the-gig pricing plans, but not in its new $60 option.
